Last week-end, ocaholic hosted the Ocaholic Overclocking Competition – Smash and Trash 13 in Regensdorf, close to Zürich Switzerland. In total there were ten well-known overclockers present and there were names like TaPaKaH from Latvia, der8auer from Germany, mat from Austria and Hiwa, splmann, Michel90 and Christian Ney from Switzerland. In cooperation with the sponsors ASUS, Cooler Master, Corsair, Intel, Samsung and Seasonic the five teams started turning 500 liters of liquid nitrogen into scores.

During the two days, the two
teammates were exchanging a lot of knowledge on overclocking and tweaking to help
each other squeeze even the last bit of performance out of hardware and benchmarks. The first day stood under the star of freestyle overclocking. All the benchers were allowed to bring some more their precious own hardware with them in order to break as many records as possible and improve rankings on HWBOT. It turned out that Michel90 from Switzerland was very successful benching two of the sponsored ASUS GeForce GTX 780 graphics cards in combination with his excellent Core i7-3770K. In 3DMark he scored 232'426 points with these two cards, which is the new Nr. 1 position in this category. Other than that he was able to score 79'297 points in 3DMark Vantage Performance Preset also with the two ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC graphics cards. This is again 1st place in this category. Like this is not already enough he continued pushing and achieved 531'498 points in Aquamark. Also this is 1st place in this category. Last but no least there is a new 3DMark 05 category record, where Michel reached 67'179 points.
More records were smashed by Semjons
"TaPaKaH" Avdejevs and Marine. The two took on of TaPaKaH's best PSC memory sticks and started overclocking it. It turns out they were able to break no less an three world records. CL5, CL6 as well as CL7 world records were broken, where Marine and TaPaKaH reached 1'481.3 MHz (effective 2'926.6 MHz) with CL5 timings, 1'619.7 MHz (effective 3'239.4 MHz) with CL6 timings and 1'611.5 MHz (effektive 3'223 MHz) with CL7 timings.
The second day was finally competition day. All the five teams gathered at 10:00 and they were all ready to receive the hardware. Mat and Oanvoanc from Austria, Hiwa and splmann from Switzerland, Michel90 and Moose83 from Switzerland and Germany, der8auer and Crazzy85 from Germany as well as Marine and TaPaKaH from Switzerland and Latvia were the teams, which overclocked hardware from ASUS, Cooler Master, Corsair, Intel, Samsung and Seasonic. Only 20 minutes into the competition Hiwa and splmann already surpassed the 1'900 MHz (effective 3'800 MHz) mark regarding memory overclocking. Unfortunately for them, they started to run into a bunch of issues, which they weren't able to resolve. In the end the Austrians won the memory stage with 2'020.8 MHz (effective 4'041.6 MHz). In SuperPI 32M there was a real fight between team Marine and TaPaKaH and team der8auer and Crazzy85 going on. In the end, the latter had a SuperPi 32M time that was 31 thousandths quicker and they therefore won the SuperPI 32M stage. Also in Aquamark there was a fight going on, show how equally excellent these teams were. Mat and Oanvoanc from Austria managed to score 50 points more than Marine and TaPaKaH in Aquamark and they managed to score second. First place again went to der8auer and Crazzy85 with a comfortable lead of 7'000 points. After the event these were the rankings:
- 1. der8auer & Crazzy85 - 28 Points
- 2. Mat & Oanvoanc - 24 Points
- 3. Marine & TaPaKaH - 19 Points
- 4. Michel90 & Moose83 - 14 Points
- 5. Hiwa & splmann - 6 Points
1st place, der8auer and Crazzy85
2nd place, mat and Oanvoanc
We were really happy, that all these great overclockers were able to join our event. We had a great time with all of you and it was also great our forum members Bean, Dreadlocky and DjangOC had the time to visit. What needs to be done now, is finding suitable dates for four sessions next year.
