Intel Whiskey Lake-U could offer big boost clock

Three chips confirmed

At the moment Intel hasn't announced much about these upcoming chips, however thanks to a leak from HP we have more details. According to the specification sheet, the upcoming lineup will include three models: Core i7-8565U, Core i5-8265U and Core i3-8145U CPUs.

The first thing that you will notice about these upcoming chips regard the boost clock frequency. If the specifications are correct, we might see CPUs with a massive boost clock. For example the Core i7-8565U might have a base clock of 1.8GHz and peak clock speed of 4.6GHz which is 400MHz more that the Kaby Lake-R part.

We might have a similar situation with the Core i5-8265U which will come with a base clock of 1.6GHz and a boost clock set to 4.1GHz. The Core i3-8145U will sport a smaller boost clock but still even on this model looks pretty high since we will see a boost frequency of 3.9GHz and a base clock of 2.1GHz.

All processors are rated 15W of TDP and they will all come with Intel UHD Graphics 620 IGP. According to notebookcheck, these three CPUs should be announced in a couple of weeks.
